Dental Implants For Dentures (Snap-In Dentures)
Snap-In dentures, also known as implant-retained or implant-supported dentures, are an excellent choice for those patients who need to replace all teeth of a dental arch. This denture is similar to traditional full dentures, but the main difference is that, as implants retain it, it provides much better function and comfort.

Implant-retained dentures are removable, so they can be easily cleaned and replaced when necessary. As they have excellent retention, provided by the implants, they allow proper chewing and function (patients will even whistle while wearing them!).

However, many people don’t know that the changes in their facial appearance can also be a consequence of tooth loss and the use of complete dentures. Ageing signs are not only about skin laxity.
How do traditional full dentures impact a patient’s facial appearance?
Millions of Americans lost teeth as a consequence of trauma or decay. And according to the American College of Prosthodontics, approximately 90% of them choose dentures to restore their smile’s esthetic and function. What is dental resorption and how does resorption affect my appearance?
As long as all teeth are present, the bone tissue that anchors the teeth is continually regenerated to provide proper support. However, when one or more teeth is lost or pulled out, the body realizes that all that bone tissue now has no function. And no tissue will be maintained if it hasn’t got any purpose at all. So after the extraction, a slow resorption process is triggered in the area. This physiological process in which the bone tissue is eliminated is known as “dental resorption.”
This resorption process eventually affects the jawbone, and when this happens, the facial appearance is irreversibly altered. The lower facial third starts to “sunken”, and the lips begin showing wrinkles and fine lines.
The problem is that most people turn to prosthetics to replace missing teeth, and traditional dentures don’t stop this process. And in addition to the esthetic problem, bone resorption also alters the shape of the jawbone. This means that the denture will need to be modified to fit properly in the altered jawbone. Who is a candidate for dental implants?
Not all patients are suitable candidates for dental implants. Patients need to have enough volume and quality of bone tissue to have an implant placed.
